The Manager, HR Operations is responsible for human resources administrative operations for employee/manager support. This role manages the daily functional services provided to customer groups to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee information as well as develops, recommends, communicates, and implements HR processes relating to operational and compliance functions including monthly metric reports, using excellent administrative judgment, skill, accuracy, and discretion in dealing with sensitive materials and situations, and creativity addressing individual human resources issues while ensuring compliance with all policies, state, and federal laws. This position may also serve as the HR Business Partner for a business unit or LLC.

Human Resources Operations:

  • Manage day-to-day delivery of HR Operations activity including but not limited to employee engagement, retention, employee career development and tracking training outcomes.
  • Responsible for using an organized, accurate, and timely review and finalization of all incoming work from the HR Generalist team.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and relationships to ensure best-in-class service is provided.
  • Maintain data integrity by proactively conducting internal self-audits, prepping for audit or regulatory reporting, and analyzing work transactions. This is as assigned and partners closely with the Compliance & Analytics Program Manager.
  • Ensures all ADP and other document deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for fact-finding and formal investigations as needed, working closely with the HRD and following HR Standard Work to ensure processes and documentation are completed timely.
  • Maintain a visible and accurate accounting of any expenses and assist in researching budget variances and provide explanation. Ensure ROI in HR expenditures.
  • Evaluate processes to determine enhancements or refinement to drive efficiency, reliability, and accuracy that is sustainable for the long term.
  • Responsible for internal metrics reporting and external compliance reporting as assigned.
  • Support provided to the Director for specialty HR projects and other project work as assigned.

People Management:

  • Provide appropriate day-to-day management of assigned staff. Conduct timely performance evaluations, draft recognition mechanisms, recommend growth and development, and address performance or behavioral issues timely and as necessary.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meeting with each direct report to review customer service activities and disseminate appropriate information.
  • Role model drive for continuous improvement and drive shared responsibility to build trust and efficiency.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field required. Will consider experience that is equal to two years directly related HR experience for each year of required education (4 years education to 8 years of direct and full time HR experience).

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years professional level experience in Human Resources required.
  • And, a minimum of two (2) years previous supervisory/people management experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading people and large systemwide projects strongly preferred.
  • Previous SBA 8a business experience preferred.

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration

  • PHR/SPHR or SHMR-SCP or SHRM-CP highly preferred.

Special knowledge, skills, & abilities

  • Proficiencies in utilizing HRIS systems, Word, and expert Excel required, including an understanding of the impact of various transactions on reporting outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of laws, acts, and regulations governing Human Resources practices and activities is required.
  • Experience with Deltek, Cognos reporting, ADP or other HR related platforms strongly preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills – strong interpersonal and relationship skills with ability to build and maintain strong internal and external networks.
  • Clear communicator – empower others with actionable information even when relaying complex and technical concepts.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – be at ease with taking the best available, yet often incomplete, information and acting with purpose and resolve.
  • Problem solving – strong problem solving and critical thinking skills while exercising sound judgement.
  • System thinking orientation – comfortable viewing problems and challenges holistically the ability to consider interdependencies before acting.
  • Ability to recognize and seek additional information when needed.
  • Highly organized, demonstrate ability to multitask in a consistently fast paced environment in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation, flexibility, creative, and ability to prioritize and be solutions orientated.
  • Exhibit a proactive, service-oriented manner.
