Job Description

For over 25 years our team has used our software products and engineering procedures to create advanced analytics and model predictive control applications for customers worldwide. Our applications integrate with existing manufacturing systems to improve product quality, production capacity and energy usage. Our business is not dependent upon any one industry, and our staff receives broad exposure to customers and processes in varied manufacturing environments. We have business in food, polymers, biofuels, refining and minerals processing with many exciting developments to expand.

As an Advanced Process Control Engineer, you will be at the heart of custom application delivery teams that use Rockwell Automation's advanced analytics and model predictive control products to create online applications to improve our customer's manufacturing processes. You will assess the customer's process, develop mathematical models that can be used to predict system behavior and configure online applications that use this knowledge to calculate process setpoints to control product quality, production capacity and energy usage. As part of our delivery team you will oversee the full technical implementation of the projects assigned to you from preliminary design through the completion of commissioning and customer acceptance. You will cover the technical implementation including supporting hardware installation and system integration.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will operate as a Global Engineering expert as part of the Advanced Process Control and Optimization team with the purpose to guide Manufacturing improvements in encouraging quality improvement, increasing output and contributing to the bottom line across all processing industry customers in Latin America and worldwide, through:
  • Expertise deployment for Advanced Process Control and Process Control solutions and improvements
  • Development and deployment of world class practices and functional expertise
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities
  • Basic DCS, Process Control and Instrumentation knowledge

Experience Areas Shall Include Linear And Non-linear Processes, Cost/benefit Analysis, Technical Design, Implementation, Commissioning, Startup, Maintenance, Sustainability, Trouble Shooting, Failure Analyzing And Overhaul Dedicated To The Advanced Process Control And Optimization Area Of Expertise, With Experience On Project Execution And Maintenance

  • APC technology, systems, industry standards, including step testing, model identification, inferential deployment, working and commissioning, cost/benefit analysis
  • Advanced Solutions and Realtime Optimization technology, systems, industry practices
  • Process Modeling and Optimization. Dynamic and steady-state optimization
  • Advanced Regulatory control, Control loops performance, monitoring and fine tune
  • Expert systems design and implementation
  • Plant performance, historian and monitoring processes and systems.
  • Experience in APC-applications, both linear as non-linear, (polymers)

The Essentials – You Will Have

  • Degree: Chemical Engineering preferred, or another Engineering B.S.
  • Being based in Brazil
  • Manufacturing Experience (Technical engineering, Maintenance Management)
  • At least 5 years of experience with a mix of experience in paper and pulp, polymers/plastics/petrochemicals, mining, cement, dairy, etc.
  • Languages skill necessary: Portuguese and English fluency mandatory

The Preferred – You Might Also Have

  • Spanish highly desirable
  • Global expert on APC and Optimization applications and projects expressed by accomplishments and contributions acquired over a period of minimum 5+ years as an APC Engineer
