Business Analytics Engineer

The Quantitative Engineering & Development (QED) team is a fully remote team within Revantage that builds brands-new, cutting-edge technology tools and models for the management, analysis, and valuation of Blackstone’s real estate investments.

Why This Role Is Valuable
The Business Analytics Engineer will help with the maintenance and support of custom software applications used to service residential mortgage investments by Binomial Real Estate, a Blackstone Portfolio Company.
Residential mortgage investments are a key piece of the Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) asset portfolio. The proprietary software tools used to manage these assets are instrumental to the success of these investments.
How You Add Value
- Using the latest technology tools to improve the efficiency and/or reduce the complexity of Excel workflows
- Adding helpful features to the team’s proprietary software tools
- Writing code that ingests and exports data to/from Excel and databases
- Collecting and summarizing business requirements for new feature requests
- Monitoring alerts from Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Logic Apps, and Azure VMs to ensure that all data processes are functioning properly
- Assisting users of the proprietary software tools with debugging and troubleshooting by staffing the user helpdesk channel and checking user-activity logging files
- Overseeing and coordinating regular updates of vendor products and their APIs
- Building and maintaining protocols to extract, transform, and load (ETL) residential mortgage loan data
- Helping users extract data from SQL databases with ad hoc queries
What You Bring to The Role
Required:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
- The candidate should have a strong background and familiarity with supporting various vendor and proprietary business applications in the financial industry
- This position requires candidates to have three main pillars of professional skill:
- Ability to calmly work with users on troubleshooting their issues
- Writing code in an object-orientated coding language
- Extracting various types of database data using SQL
- The main object-oriented coding language used in this position is C#, however experience with Java/C++/Python and a willingness to learn C# is acceptable
- Database data is primarily housed within Microsoft SQL databases, though some data is found in Snowflake data warehouses.
Preferred:
- A college degree or higher
- Candidates with a combination of technology skills and application support knowledge are preferred
- Any experience with web development would be favored but is not required
