The role

We are seeking an experienced programme manager to join the Raspberry Pi Foundation's team to help increase access to computing education for young people in Ireland. This is a varied role, and you will be responsible for partnerships, training, outreach, and more. You will also work closely with the Director for the UK Ireland to develop our strategy for Ireland. You will have a track record of developing and delivering education programmes at scale. To succeed in this role you will need a good understanding of the Irish education system, ideally with direct experience of working in schools or non-formal education in the Republic of Ireland.

We strive to make the Foundation a place where talented people who care about our mission can do the best work of their careers. • Engage with the Irish education ecosystem, ensuring that the Foundation understands and is influencing computing education policy and is proactively engaging with relevant networks and organisations.
  • Ensure that all programmes and partnerships implement our commitments to accessibility, inclusion, and safeguarding, and that we are prioritising impact for underserved and educationally disadvantaged people and communities.
  • Build, lead, and manage a highly skilled team, providing them with the clarity and support to enable them to do great work.
  • Support the development and implementation of ME plans. Use data and feedback to ensure quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Foundation to develop and improve products, and share learnings.
  • Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation.

Experience and personal attributes

We recognise that everyone has the potential for growth, and we welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate that they have some, but not all, of the experience and personal attributes listed here.

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the Raspberry Pi Foundation, including diversity and inclusion, with experience of addressing issues of educational inequity and disadvantage
  • An experienced manager and leader, with the ability to build diverse teams and support them to do great work; ideally you will have experience of managing remote teams
  • Good commercial and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and develop opportunities and build partnerships
  • An entrepreneurial approach, with experience of taking a programme or organisation to scale
  • A track record of delivering learning experiences and products, ideally focused on young people
  • A passion for — and understanding of — computing education, STEM education, or related subjects; while you don’t need to be a computer scientist or engineer, you will need to be comfortable with this type of content and genuinely interested in learning more
  • Experience and understanding of the Irish education system, ideally with a network across the Irish education, government and technology ecosystem
  • Experience of overseeing professional development or training, ideally including sessions for teachers
  • Good data and analytical skills, and the ability to use data effectively to improve what we do

About us
Established in 2008 and first known for our product — the wildly successful Raspberry Pi computer — the Foundation has developed education programmes, learning experiences, and products that are helping millions of young people learn vital new knowledge and skills.

Through Code Club, we support the world’s largest network of free informal clubs for young people. Tens of thousands of educators have taken our online courses, and millions of people use our free online learning resources. To deepen our understanding of how young people learn about and how to create with digital technologies, we conduct academic research, and we use that knowledge to increase the impact of our work and advance the field of education.

Across all of our work, we work hard to engage young people who come from backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in the field of or who experience educational disadvantage. We work all over the world, with teams based in the UK, Ireland, North America, and India, and partnerships with mission-aligned organisations in over 40 countries. You can learn more about us on our careers page.

We are at the forefront of the global movement to help young people learn about computing and digital making. You can read more about our mission, values, and goals in our Annual Review 2023 and our Strategy 2022–2025.

In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a range of benefits for all of our colleagues, including:

About Raspberry Pi Foundation

Learn more about Raspberry Pi Foundation and their company culture.

View company profile

The Raspberry Pi Foundation's journey began in 2008, born out of a concern shared by a group at the University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. They noticed a decline in the number and skill levels of students applying for computer science courses. Their vision was to reignite the passion for computing and digital creation among young people. This led to the formal establishment of the Raspberry Pi Foundation as a UK-based educational charity in May 2009. The co-founders, including Eben Upton, Rob Mullins, Jack Lang, Alan Mycroft, David Braben, and Pete Lomas, aimed to create a low-cost, programmable computer that could make learning about technology accessible and exciting, reminiscent of the early days of personal computing with platforms like the BBC Micro. Their idea was to strip away the complexity of modern PCs and provide a hands-on experience with the inner workings of a computer system.

The first Raspberry Pi computer, the Model B, launched in February 2012, and its success was immediate and overwhelming, far exceeding the founders' initial expectations. This rapid growth necessitated a new structure. In early 2013, the organization was split into two parts: the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which continues to focus on charitable and educational activities, and Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd., a commercial subsidiary responsible for the engineering, manufacturing, and distribution of Raspberry Pi computers and related technologies. The profits generated by Raspberry Pi (Trading) Ltd. are funneled back to the Foundation to fund its educational mission. Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its reach and impact significantly. It has developed a wide range of free educational resources, supports a global network of coding clubs like Code Club and CoderDojo (which merged with the Foundation in 2015 and 2017, respectively), and provides training for educators. The Foundation's work now extends to numerous countries, with a commitment to reaching young people from all backgrounds, particularly those traditionally underrepresented in technology. Their core mission remains to empower young people worldwide to realize their full potential through the power of computing and digital technologies.
