Azure Solution Architect – Job Description
Overview & Responsibilities
Location – Remote
The Azure Solution Architect acts as a technical consultant and trusted advisor, responsible for gathering customer business requirements and translating them into secure, scalable, and cost-effective Azure solution blueprints. The role has a strong focus on complex networking, Azure Landing Zones, large-scale migrations, governance, optimization, and licensing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities & Required Skills
Act as a consultant to customers, engaging with business and technical stakeholders to gather and document business requirements.
Translate business requirements into end-to-end Azure solution blueprints, including architecture diagrams and design documentation.
Assess current-state environments (on-premises and cloud) and define target-state Azure architectures.
Design and implement Azure Landing Zones aligned with enterprise and Cloud Adoption Framework best practices.
Architect complex Azure networking solutions including Hub-Spoke topology, VNet peering, ExpressRoute, VPN, Azure Firewall, NSGs, Private Endpoints, Load Balancer, and Application Gateway.
Design, integrate, and manage third-party network security appliances such as Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls in Azure.
Define and execute cloud migration strategies including rehost, replatform, and modernization approaches.
Hands-on experience with Azure Migrate for discovery, assessment, and migration planning.
Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep and Terraform.
Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Optimization and Licensing Assessment (OLA) to support cloud transformation decisions.
Design Azure identity, security, and governance using Azure AD / Entra ID, RBAC, Azure Policy, and security best practices.
Drive architectural discussions around security, compliance, scalability, performance, HA/DR, and operational readiness.
Guide engineering and delivery teams to ensure implementations align with the approved architecture blueprint.
Work closely with customers to ensure successful delivery, adoption, and ongoing optimization of Azure solutions.
Experience & Education
12+ years of overall IT experience.
10+ years of experience as a Solution Architect in cloud and datacenter migration projects.
Strong hands-on experience designing enterprise-scale Azure solutions.
Experience with third-party network security appliances such as Fortinet and Palo Alto in cloud environments.
Azure certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert.
TOGAF certification (or equivalent enterprise architecture framework) is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
