Role Summary
The Marketing Manager, Insights and Analysis leverages HubSpot and other tools to deliver robust reporting systems and actionable insights that optimize PLOS’ marketing communications. This role plays a pivotal role in connecting campaign performance to data-driven marketing strategies, ensuring the effectiveness of campaigns, and advancing PLOS's mission to make science open and accessible to all.

Reporting
- Build and maintain HubSpot dashboards that integrate data from HubSpot, Google Analytics, and other sources to track Marketing Communications performance across all audience touchpoints
- Maximize HubSpot’s reporting capabilities to track campaign performance and uncover trends across the customer lifecycle.
- Provide regular and ad hoc performance reports, highlighting trends and opportunities within specific campaigns and offering an overarching view of our database
- Use a variety of sources and metrics to tie traffic, user behavior, and conversion rates back to marketing campaigns
- Work closely with colleagues to configure Google Tag Manager for event tracking and ensure all relevant metrics are captured for detailed analysis.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and reporting methodologies, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
- Stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and new tools to enhance data accuracy and reporting effectiveness
Analysis and insights
- Synthesize data from email, social media, website traffic, and paid advertising into actionable recommendations to guide strategy and future campaigns
- Collaborate with the marketing team to connect insights to broader objectives, contributing to the development of data-informed strategies
- Leverage HubSpot behavioral data, including customer interactions and lifecycle stages, to inform campaign strategies and ensure measurable results.
- Identify and report on campaign trends, using insights to guide the expansion and optimization of marketing efforts
- Deliver insights that directly improve campaign ROI, customer engagement, and overall marketing efficiency
Knowledge and Skills
- Expert-level knowledge of HubSpot reporting tools and performance tracking, including multi-channel campaign analysis, customer lifecycle insights, and behavioral data segmentation.
- Good practical experience of Google Analytics and familiarity with collaborating on Google Tag Manager setups to monitor key events and ensure proper data capture.
- Able to break down complex information in a way that’s accessible and understood by others using reports and data visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau or similar tools that inform marketing strategies
- Excellent communication skills that translate insights into actionable recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Highly skilled with detailed analysis but able to translate this into a relevant narrative for the MarComms department
- Ability to work nimbly within a team and collaboratively across the department but without direct supervision
- Substantial experience in marketing analytics or a related role, preferably using HubSpot or a similar platform
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent experience
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Prolonged periods stationary at a desk and working on a computer
- Some national and international travel may be required occasionally
- Some flexibility to work across time zones
The base salary range we’ve established for these positions is UK £35,000- £47,000. PLOS also offers a comprehensive benefits package summarized below.
