PSECU, a high-tech progressive financial institution with more than $8 billion in assets, is seeking a Counsel that plays a pivotal role within the credit union’s Risk Management leadership team. Responsible for providing legal guidance to credit union staff, and overseeing external legal counsel, the Counsel collaborates closely with other members of the Legal and Risk Management teams. The Counsel partners with stakeholders to provide legal support and strategic guidance, ensuring the credit union optimizes business outcomes while mitigating risks.
Employee Type: Full-time, Exempt
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30am-5:00pm. This is a hybrid schedule working remotely with minimum onsite expectation of 40% or as needed.
Minimum Starting Payrate: (Commensurate with experience)

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES - Essential for this position:
- Partners with business units to optimize business outcomes and achieve strategic goals while taking a balanced approach to risk management.
- Partners with risk management peers in the negotiation, drafting, and review of contracts, loan documents, deposit products, agreements, and disclosures. Collaborates with the risk management team and business units to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with the credit union's objectives while ensuring appropriate safeguards are present.
- Analyzes regulatory changes and their impact on the credit union's operations, forms, and services. Responsible for maintaining awareness of changes in legal and regulatory frameworks affecting the Credit Union or its members. Provides recommendations to adapt to new regulatory environments.
- Conduct research on existing laws and regulations pertaining to Credit Union business and where needed provide legal guidance to stakeholders on processes and procedures.
- Effectively handles multiple projects, working independently and as a strong collaborator.
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, working effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Effectively manages risks within the scope of assigned responsibilities. Instills a balanced risk-based approach to decision-making, providing oversight and accountability for all enterprise risks.
- Assists with the review of PSECU's policies, procedures, and practices, with concern for legal significance, and recommends changes where necessary.
- Protect any confidential information they become aware of relating to the Credit Union, its members, and its employees.
MINIMUM / PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Juris Doctorate degree and admission, or eligible to gain admission, to the practice of law in Pennsylvania
- Minimum of five years of experience practicing law, with at least two of those years spent working in-house with a financial institution or at law firm supporting financial institutions.
