Role Summary
ProVeg International is a leading global NGO working to transform the global food system by accelerating the shift to plant-based and alternative proteins. As one of the first INGOs approved to open a representative office in mainland China in this field, ProVeg China is uniquely positioned to catalyze positive change within the country’s fast-evolving food ecosystem.
We are seeking a Communications Manager to lead ProVeg China’s communications strategy while overseeing key aspects of the China operation. The ideal candidate is a bilingual strategic thinker and doer, skilled in managing media and digital platforms, while also possessing strong operational, organizational, and project management abilities.
This person will work closely with the Executive Director of ProVeg China, local staff, and international teams across departments including communications, operations, and program management.

Location: Shanghai onlyReports to: Executive Director, ProVeg China
Working hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)
Salary range: CNY 200,000 depending on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities
Communications (80%)
Develop and implement key communication strategies for ProVeg China
Through effective and targeted communication strategies, drive programs and campaigns that change behaviours of the public, institutions, retailers and other associated stakeholders
Develop pitches, public speech content, Linkedin posts, articles and other communication materials in Chinese and English as required
Bring in and grow relationships with media and digital influencers.
Manage Website and social media (WeChat, RED and others)
Coordinate press inquiries, interviews and local event logistics as required
Operations (20%)
Collaborate with Program Managers to support the implementation of programs (webinar, roadshow, conference etc)
Manage the overall operation of ProVeg China, which includes logistics, campaigns, CRM and other administrative work
Qualifications
Strong experience in PR/communications role with expertise in writing captivating content for a variety of media and audiences, developing of communications plans, building media relations and crafting the stories
Relevant Degree or equivalent qualification/accreditation (Journalism, Media, etc.), ideally in an English speaking country
+5 years of relevant work experience
Track record of running successful online campaigns in China social media platform and offline events
Good capability in using various design tools to create communication assets
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in Chinese and English, preferably bilingual knowledge
Self-starter, adaptable, and passionate about food systems change
Understanding of and/or experience within the non-profit sector is preferred
Experience in environmental, food or sustainability sectors is preferred
