How will you make a difference to PMI? We’re looking for a strategic and creative content leader to shape the future of event programming at PMI. As Manager, Event Programming, you’ll be responsible for transforming thought leadership, trends, PMI community contributions, and audience insights into compelling event experiences—from mainstage keynotes to hands-on workshops. This is not an event planning or logistics role, although event experience and project management skills are a plus. It’s a content strategy and development position for someone who knows how to craft bold, engaging agendas that spark ideas, inspire audiences, and elevate a brand. You’ll play a key role in helping PMI expand its voice and relevance across industries by curating and producing standout content for our signature in-person and virtual events. You’ll partner closely with the Director of Brand Experience and cross-functional teams to develop a unified programming strategy across PMI’s global event portfolio—and then lead a team to bring it to life. If you’re passionate about turning complex ideas into impactful live experiences, and you thrive at the intersection of creativity, learning, and execution, we want to meet you.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Lead content strategy and development across PMI’s in-person and virtual events (ranging from 400-5000+ in-person to 100,000+ virtual attendees), ensuring each event delivers audience-centered, brand-aligned programming.
  • Design high-impact sessions—including keynotes, panels, workshops, and educational breakouts—by translating complex topics, research, and community stories into engaging experiences.
  • Partner with the Director of Brand Experience to evolve PMI’s content voice and positioning, selecting speakers and themes that reflect global trends, emerging practices, and thought leadership in the project profession.
  • Oversee the end-to-end content development process, from call-for-proposals and agenda design to session formatting, storytelling, speaker coaching, and rehearsal.
  • Lead and mentor a global team, setting vision and direction while ensuring strong collaboration and delivery across functions.
  • Collaborate with teams across Events, Marketing, CEO Office, Community, and Knowledge Platforms to ensure content aligns with PMI’s strategic goals and resonates with diverse global audiences.
  • Spot new opportunities—from fresh formats to unexpected speakers and audience engagement models—to push our event programming forward.
  • Use feedback, performance metrics, and emerging trends to continuously refine content strategy and event experience quality.
  • Manage speaker relations, including sourcing, contracting, onboarding, and technical rehearsals, with an emphasis on diversity and quality of delivery.
  • Serve as a hands-on producer and strategic advisor, ensuring programming runs smoothly and achieves intended audience impact.
  • Work across time zones and occasionally outside standard hours to support global teams and live events.

Role Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience designing or delivering educational conferences and training events (in-person and virtual).
  • Bachelor’s degree, Education, Organizational Behavior, or a related business discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as PMP, CAPM, CMP, CPLP/CPTD, DES is highly desirable.
  • Expertise in content design, learning needs analysis, and stakeholder collaboration to meet audience expectations.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and how to translate them into effective programming.
  • Strong organization skills while managing complex details.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills across diverse, global teams and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, manage complex projects, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 25%), including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency in the business language for PMI (English).
