About the Position: We are looking for a bright and motivated General Accountant, with a desire to learn and grow their career in the accounting field, to join our dynamic Finance team at Practice Better. In this role, you will assist the Controller with full-cycle accounting and financial operations, expense management, revenue accounting, and international payroll. This position requires someone highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for driving results in a high-growth environment. This role is ideal for a CPA candidate seeking to grow their career as an accountant.
We’re counting on you to:
- Own the month-end close process and ensure the company adheres to three business-day close deadline
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate financial records in our accounting system
- Prepare financial statements for review by our Controller
- Ensure that charges are entered in the correct category and department and all reconciliations are accurate and complete
- Work independently to ensure that payables are processed promptly
- Prepare all Bank and Credit Card reconciliations for month-end purposes
- Ensure that Vendor Master files are accurate for US & Canadian suppliers
- Work with the Controller to ensure that global payroll is accurate each period
- Support audit and tax filing processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations to external parties
- Assist with the preparation of monthly revenue accounting
- Assist the Controller with ad-hoc projects related to financial operations
Requirements:
- Degree with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance or pursuing CPA
- 2-3 years of prior experience in an accounting-focused role with hands-on experience with the AP cycle
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Aptitude for learning and implementing new systems and technology to streamline processes
- Excellent and uncompromising attention to detail
- Bonus: prior experience working at a growth-stage company selling a SaaS product
- Bonus: prior experience using tools such as Xero, Fathom, Plooto, Float, and Stripe
