Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seeks an Associate Director of Digital Testing & Innovation. This job reports to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing and Innovation on the Digital Fundraising & Supporter Engagement (DFSE) team of PPFA. The DFSE team is responsible for running Planned Parenthood’s national email, SMS, and digital advertising programs to raise funds online, power advocacy work, and engage with Planned Parenthood supporters across the country.
Purpose: The Associate Director of Digital Testing & Innovation is responsible for leading the web development, testing, and optimization roadmap for the Digital Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team, in addition to identifying and piloting new and emerging digital platforms to increase revenue and supporter engagement.
● Responsible for setting roadmap strategy, overseeing technical project implementation, and ensuring best practice application of A/B testing and optimization projects, designed to increase revenue, supporter recruitment, and donor retention.
● Develops and manages web development and testing roadmaps, following DFSE program goals of raising c3 and c4 revenue, engaging Planned Parenthood supporters, and supporting affiliates’ online programs.
● Identifying opportunities for new programmatic applications and supporting the program integration strategy.
● Evaluate and respond to online fundraising and partnership opportunities. Works with stakeholders across divisions to bring partnership campaigns to life.
Delivery: Manages the roadmap and development of new innovative programs for the digital fundraising and engagement program. ● Manages testing and optimization plans, tools, and roadmaps for the digital direct response team, often partnering with colleagues across the organization for cross-channel and cross-departmental testing and learning.
● Writes and reviews web development, testing, optimization, and new pilot action plans. Documents project requirements and deliverables, develops timelines, and coordinates stakeholder input and review.
● Responsible for analyzing testing and innovation results, and making strategic recommendations to help meet program goals, including optimization and expansion to new digital platforms. Shares statistically significant findings with stakeholders across the Federation including offline direct response teams, digital products, digital organizing, and affiliates.
● Vets’ new digital direct response opportunities, project managing the internal review, RFP, and contracting process as needed, including coordinating with stakeholders.
● Develops strategic plans for new digital direct response vendor onboarding, managing communication with stakeholders internally, as well as affiliates.
● Participates in quality assurance testing for outbound content and materials, as needed.
Engagement: Builds effective partnerships cross-departmentally and with stakeholders to pilot new technology and execute complex testing to engage priority audiences.
● Coordinates cross-departmentally with stakeholders such as digital products, Application Development, and digital organizing to onboard new digital innovations and collaborate on supporter engagement and fundraising projects on Planned Parenthood web properties, including the lightbox.
● Coordinates with stakeholders around new pilots, including implementation, tracking, and reporting, as well as post-implementation retrospectives – sharing recommendations for innovations and improvements to foster better collaboration and improve ways of working.
● Provides insights, support, and strategic recommendations from the DFSE testing program to affiliates.
● Serves as a DFSE team resource on collaborative agile frameworks, staying up-to-date on techniques and methods. Assists in planning and facilitation of retrospectives and health checks (especially in relation to technical projects and innovations) and facilitates discussions aimed at building team psychological safety, fostering better collaboration, and improving DFSE ways of working.
● Implements new innovation pilots in coordination with affiliates, where appropriate.
● Meets with new vendors to learn about emerging digital platforms and offerings. Stays abreast of new digital trends and technologies.
● Works directly with the Development Data Strategy & Analytics team to support the development and appropriate data strategy for new and emerging platforms.
● Works with Senior Director Digital Marketing & Innovation and Senior Director, Strategic Operations to set a/b testing strategy, identify potential tests, technical projects, and pilots, define scope and requirements, advise and support implementation and project management. Works with Senior Front-End Developer and Associate Director of Digital Innovation Production for implementation requirements and testing as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):Duties require knowledge of AB and multivariate testing. Must have experience with current online advocacy and fundraising technologies.
● Strong project management skills, Agile preferred.
● Strong data analytics and reporting skills, familiarity with Google Analytics.
● Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects, and producing high-quality work under tight deadlines.
