The journey started when co-founders, including former Uber CTO Oscar Salazar, launched an app named Pager, designed to help people navigate the often-complex world of non-emergency healthcare directly from their mobile devices. The initial concept was to bring back the house call, digitally, connecting patients with healthcare professionals for on-demand services. This consumer-focused model quickly evolved as the team recognized a greater need within the broader healthcare ecosystem.

A pivotal moment in Pager's story came in 2017 when Walter Jin, then the executive board chairman, stepped into the role of CEO. Under his leadership, the company shifted its strategy to a business-to-business model, partnering with health plans and providers to offer its innovative technology as a white-label solution. This strategic pivot allowed Pager to scale its impact significantly, embedding its platform into the existing infrastructure of major healthcare organizations. The company expanded its services to include virtual nurse chats, triage, telemedicine, and care coordination. The evolution continued with the strategic acquisition of Onlife Health in 2022, a leading well-being company. This move broadened Pager's capabilities, integrating wellness solutions into its comprehensive care navigation platform. In June 2024, this unified entity was rebranded as Pager Health, marking its transformation into the industry's first connected health platform company, dedicated to breaking down silos and creating a seamless, accessible, and personalized healthcare journey for millions of individuals across the United States and Latin America.
