Job Description:
The Business Intelligence Analyst (Customer Analytics Specialist) will be responsible for providing high-quality data analytics, reporting, and dashboard creation for a customer or set of customers. This role delivers actionable data sets, dashboards, and performance insights that drive financial and operational improvements across the healthcare supply chain. The analyst will collaborate closely with stakeholders at the customer(s) and within Owens & Minor.
This role sits at the intersection of business intelligence, supply chain analytics, and emerging data capabilities, and is well-suited for someone who is interested in expanding into advanced analytics, data science concepts, and AI-enabled insights over time.
Core Responsibilities
- Provides reporting and analytics to monitor performance, including key supply chain metrics such as inventory turns, stockouts, fill rate, order fulfillment accuracy, distribution center throughput, cost-to-serve, product demand forecasting, and contract/rebate tracking.
- Uses data to support root cause analysis when performance metrics are off track.
- Manages reporting needs and analyzes customer requests for custom reporting solutions.
- Creates KPI dashboards and scorecards (critical measures) to drive and measure operational and financial improvements.
- Develops data visualizations that communicate meaningful insights to support problem solving, opportunity identification, and prioritization of business needs.
- Effectively communicates and presents analytical findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Develops and maintains strong, account-specific analytical processes with the customer.
- Utilizes data to support management of contract compliance to agreed terms and conditions.
- Collaborates with internal teams and customer stakeholders to ensure accurate, consistent, and reliable data.
- Uses data to identify opportunities for item standardization, product conversion, and supply chain optimization.
- Supports strategies to drive proprietary products and improve customer performance outcomes.
- Creates and maintains documentation on data models, KPIs, reporting logic, and analytical processes.
- Processes, cleans, and validates data to ensure integrity for reporting and analysis, including SKU hygiene initiatives.
- Explores and analyzes data to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, risks, and opportunities.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven insights.
- Increasingly applies analytical curiosity toward more advanced methods, including exploratory data science concepts and AI-enabled analytics, as tools and capabilities evolve within the organization.
Qualifying Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2+ years of experience in a financial, analytics, supply chain, contract administration, or similar data-driven role requiring strong attention to detail, data management, and reporting.
- 2+ years of related experience in areas such as sales analytics, customer service analytics, customer relationship management, supply chain, hospital distribution, or similar environments.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work across multiple systems and reporting tools to synthesize and interpret data.
- Experience with data visualization tools, preferably Power BI or similar.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated interest in expanding into advanced analytics, including data science concepts and AI-enabled tools and applications, is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- May provide backup support to customer service functions as needed.
- Limited travel may be required.
