This position supports systematic review research and related projects for the Pacific Northwest Evidence-based Practice Center (EPC) within the Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology, OHSU School of Medicine. The Pacific Northwest EPC (http://www.ohsu.edu/epc) is designated by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as one of nine Evidence-based Practice Centers, and conducts systematic evidence reviews of health care topics for the AHRQ Effective Health Care Program and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, as well as other foundations, professional associations, and state and federal government agencies. As a part of this work, the EPC completes comparative effectiveness reviews, meta-analyses, technology assessments, and clinical guideline development. These products are for use by clinicians, employers, policymakers, researchers, and others in making decisions about the provision of health care services and health research.

Function/Duties of Position

Responsibilities of the student worker position include: import and de-duplicate text files of electronic database search results; manage EndNote library citations, including detailed tracking of relevant project metadata; search for and request journal articles from the OHSU library website; retrieve electronic copies of journal articles from the Internet; format report bibliographies; format report contents, such as in-text tables; and perform other related tasks as needed. This is a great opportunity to learn more about health care research and systematic reviews. This is an hourly position. Hours to be arranged based on project needs and mutual schedules.

Required Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in (check one)

  • Undergraduate Program (minimum 6 credit hours), OR

  • Graduate Program (minimum 4.5 credit hours)

  • Requires excellent computer skills, a keen attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to graduate students in public health, health sciences, nursing, sociology, or related programs.
  • Familiarity with systematic reviews, or clinical or health services research.

  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Experience with research citation management software (EndNote).

Additional Details

This position is remote. Work is between 10-20 hours per week but no more than 40 hours per week, and is dependent upon the number and length of tasks assigned. Schedule is flexible, as long as working hours are approved by the supervisor.
