They currently own and operate one platform school in Chicago with plans to expand into other markets through organic and inorganic growth. Founded in 2014, the company has successfully established its brand and operations over the past 10 years. As far as private school companies go, however, they are still young, disruptive, and growth focused. The role will report to the Manager of FP&A. In addition to creating internal value for the organization, being a part of the Bennett team also means that the candidate is at the forefront of innovation in K12 education and making a real difference in delivering value to school communities, teachers, and students.
Responsibilities:
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes while maintaining strong internal controls
Oversee daily accounting activities including AP and AR management
Prepare financial statements for annual financial reports and tax filings
Ensure accuracy and timely submission of reports to supervisors
Evaluate account balances and reconcile assigned accounts, ensuring unmatched and unreconciled items are investigated and resolved timely
Prepare journal entries and execute all necessary steps to facilitate a timely close
Generate and distribute invoices
Training and Development cost supported by the team to enhance skillset
Ideal Profile Qualifications:
5-7 years of experience in Accounting and Audit
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Highly self-motivated with a strong work ethic
Combines problem-solving and innovation skills to effectively address complex technical production challenges
Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Comprehensive knowledge of QuickBooks and US GAAP, including general accounting principles and financial statement preparation
Experience with financial and accounting platforms such as Bill.com, Paylocity, Carta, Divvy, and Google Suite
