Position Objective:

The Preconstruction Analyst adeptly manages multiple pricing and delivery efforts with competing deadlines and resources. This role works cohesively and collaboratively across companywide functional teams to include Development, Engineering, Accounting, Financial Planning, and Legal. The position reports to the VP of Preconstruction.

This position will be focused on driving outgoing proposals, managing delivery distributed generation solar energy facilities from 5-60% designs, keep an up-to-date data base of equipment and labor costs across multiple markets, and maintain all capex assumptions for the projects during the 5-60% phase.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed CAPEX estimates utilizing and improving existing tools to develop outgoing Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) bids proposal, Asset Purchase Agreements (APAs) and related new business development activities.
  • Coordinate the required electrical engineering, civil engineering, and labor/materials procurement efforts to support developing substantiated project Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) estimates.
  • Maintain a deep database of cost estimates for key equipment and labor, including but not limited to solar modules, racking and piles, inverters, LV SWBDs, MV SWGR, Step Up XFMRs, Main Power Transformers and other key equipment.
  • Coordinate quoting requests with other members of the Preconstruction and Engineering Teams.
  • Dissect incoming data from ongoing construction to establish a database of labor and task database requirements for various construction stages.
  • Lead labor and/or material Request for Proposal (RFP) processes and internal presentations to the Investment Committee for bringing certainty to project CAPEX.
  • Assist in strategic planning for bulk equipment purchases and assist in Investment Committee presentations/approvals to justify advance procurement.
  • Transfer and manage CAPEX estimates in the companies centralized planning tool up until EPC contracting.
  • Continually update the Long-Term Delivery Forecasts for accuracy of Low and Mid Cases, timing of spend and magnitude of spend.
  • Perform indicative design work in AutoCAD/Civil3d and production modelling in PVSyst for spill over bid requests.

Requirements:

  • BS Degree in a related Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited.
  • 5+ years of experience in Solar Energy development, engineering, and/or construction.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Adept with AutoCAD and/or Civil3D.
  • Proficient in PVSyst.
  • Strong acumen for business development.
  • Experience in technical equipment review.
  • FAA Drone License preferred.
  • Track record of highly efficient design schedule management.
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of solar development process, design implementation and construction cycles.
  • A proven ability to provide efficient, timely, and reliable service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving.

  • Ability to travel and access sites of varying Position requires semi frequent travel, up to 1-2 weeks per quarter or about 20% of working time; must carry an active driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
