Job SummaryThe Manager, Cloud & DevOps is primarily responsible for guiding the cloud team in the management of our cloud resources and automation of our processes and practices. The Manager, Cloud & DevOps is in charge of evaluating upcoming work, assessing scope and feasibility of projects, and ensuring that the team is working to complete all projects in a timely fashion. The Manager, Cloud & DevOps is ultimately responsible for ensuring the uptime of our applications in production and driving workload optimizations through the department. The Manager, Cloud & DevOps will work with the Director of Technology Operations to determine priorities and task assignment among the department. Essential Functions
- Manage a large-scale production environment with multiple workloads at varying cloud maturity levels
- Oversee the automation of infrastructure, pipelines, and processes to reduce toil and improve operational excellence
- Manage and mentor Cloud & DevOps employees
- Drive Cloud & DevOps projects to completion
- Drive and implement organizational improvements throughout the team
- Partner with Product & Development to ensure we are delivering scalable, reliable solutions
- Communicate with all levels of the organization, often balancing competing priorities
- Drive incident response and manage 24/7 on-call rotation
- Estimate effort and timeline on projects as designed
- Lead and coordinate projects independently
- Architect and design solutions to complex systems
- Evaluate advanced issues for customer-impacting issue resolution
- Demonstrate a degree of knowledge throughout all Nextech products and technologies
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of experience as an operations leader/people manager of cloud and/or DevOps focused teams
- 5+ years of production cloud and/or DevOps experience
- 2+ years of experience with the Microsoft tech stack (.Net, IIS, SQL Server, etc)
- Experience managing a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Ability to deep dive into technical challenges, architect solutions and get hands-on
- A passion for operational excellence, the ability proactively identify and resolve issue and a love of automation
- An understanding of what DevOps should truly mean to a strong, cross-functional team
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated success building and leading teams
- Proven track record of identifying scaling issues and operational risks before they become a problem
- Experience with Agile engineering practices
- Experience working in software development
