Senior/Lead EVM Engineer - Distributed Ledger Optimization

We are a fast-growing software company committed to supporting, developing, and servicing an open source, proof-of-stake, EVM-compatible platform. This decentralized network is built for enterprise and Web3 applications, prioritizing speed, security, and stability. We are seeking a seasoned EVM Engineer to join our Smart Contracts team and drive the performance and optimization of our core native services (Java) and Web3 services (JS/TS).
You will be a high-impact contributor, spending approximately 80% of your time designing, coding, and testing core components. Your focus will be on the execution layer, specifically transforming network node states, processing transaction bytes, and exposing critical network data. This includes innovating on compiler and optimization algorithms, enhancing EVM features, and contributing to open-source code clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compiler & Optimization: Design, implement, and innovate compiler and optimization algorithms to enhance performance.
- EVM Service Implementation: Implement and enhance the Java and Node.js-based smart contract services that expose EVM features on the network.
- Open Source Contribution: Contribute to open-source code clients focusing on VM state transitions, new feature support, and performance improvements.
- State Processing: Contribute to the design and management of EVM state processing parallelization.
- Hands-On Development: Be a strong and proficient hands-on programmer, developing various aspects of the overall Distributed Ledger Ecosystem.
Requirements
- Experience:7+ years of software development experience, including experience in a tech or team lead role with the ability to guide engineers up to the Staff level.
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
- Core Expertise:Expertise in the Java programming language, VM (Hotspot JVM or GraalVM experience), and its ecosystem.
- EVM & Blockchain:Deep knowledge of and experience with an EVM-based blockchain, including writing and debugging smart contracts.
- Low-Level Systems: Experience with compilers, parsers, interpreters, and garbage collectors.
- Fundamentals: Strong grasp of Computer Science fundamentals, including concurrency, performance optimization, and reusability.
- Web3 Tools: Experience with Web3 tools written in JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Methodology: Strong engineering principles aimed at developing simple, modular, testable, and high-quality code.
Preferred Experience (Nice-to-Haves):
- Experience with blockchain protocol development (e.g., Bitcoin or Ethereum).
- Experience with EVM Client development.
- Familiarity with security principles, cryptographic tools, and libraries.
- Experience in developing libraries and platforms for use and deployment by application developers.
