About Marguerite Casey Foundation
Marguerite Casey Foundation is a private, independent grantmaking foundation created in 2001 to address the root causes of child and family poverty. Based in Seattle, Washington, we believe that families have the best solutions to their problems, and we focus on empowering families through movement building rather than direct service. Our philosophy recognizes that children thrive when families are secure, so we support parents, grandparents, and extended family members as advocates for their children.
We provide general operating grants to leaders of organizations and initiatives with the potential to shift the balance of power toward communities, families, and individuals who have been excluded from sharing in the resources and benefits of society. Our key initiatives include Freedom Scholars, which provides unrestricted support to scholars whose research supports social movements; Program-Related Investments; and Public Dollars for Public Good (PDPG), which has provided over $22 million in grants to organizations advancing economic justice since 2023.
