For a Scandinavian SAP consulting house, known for designing, building and maintaining business-critical SAP solutions for customers across industries (e.g., manufacturing, logistics, energy, forestry, defense), emphasizing a low-hierarchical, agile way of working and a supportive, learning-focused culture.
We are looking for an experienced Archiving Expert to design and implement a comprehensive archiving concept for enterprise environments. In this role, you will define the end-to-end archiving approach, select a suitable archiving server/platform, coordinate retention policy definition, and lead the technical implementation of the archiving setup.
You will work at the intersection of business, compliance, and IT - ensuring that archiving supports regulatory requirements, system performance, cost efficiency, and long-term information lifecycle management. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong coordination and stakeholder management responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a comprehensive archiving concept covering scope, architecture, operating model, governance, and lifecycle processes.
- Facilitate workshops with business, legal, compliance, and IT stakeholders to define retention policies, deletion rules, legal hold processes, and access controls.
- Translate regulatory and business requirements into clear technical and operational specifications.
- Evaluate and recommend a suitable archiving server/platform (on-premises, cloud, or hybrid), including storage architecture, scalability, security, and total cost considerations.
- Coordinate and/or implement the technical archiving setup, including: System configuration and integrations; Job scheduling and monitoring; Security configuration (access management, encryption, logging); Backup and restore strategy.
- Plan and coordinate testing, cutover, and go-live activities.
- Develop documentation, operational runbooks, and support handover materials.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with data protection and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
- Provide expert guidance on best practices in information lifecycle management and data volume optimization.
Requirements
- Proven 6+y experience in delivering archiving or information lifecycle management initiatives from concept to implementation.
- Strong understanding of data retention principles, compliance requirements, and governance frameworks.
- Experience selecting and implementing archiving platforms or enterprise content repositories.
- Solid technical background in server infrastructure, storage concepts, and system integrations.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and leading workshops.
- Strong documentation and communication skills in English (Norwegian, Swedish or Finnish is a plus).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with enterprise application archiving (e.g., SAP data archiving, ILM concepts).
- Familiarity with regulated industries and audit requirements.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and hybrid architectures.
- Understanding security standards and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001-aligned environments).
- Project management experience in complex enterprise IT environments.
