About Lomography

Established in Vienna in 1992, the Lomographic Society International, or Lomography, is a globally active organization dedicated to the world of analogue, experimental, and creative photography. The movement began when a group of Viennese students discovered the Lomo Kompakt Automat, a small and enigmatic Russian camera. They were captivated by its unique ability to produce vibrant, colorful, and sometimes blurry images, which stood in stark contrast to the technically perfect photography of the time. This discovery sparked an art movement that quickly evolved into a commercial enterprise, Lomographische GmbH, committed to spreading the passion for this distinct photographic style.

Lomography's core philosophy is encapsulated in its '10 Golden Rules', which encourage a spontaneous and uninhibited approach to photography, famously summarized by the motto 'Don't Think, Just Shoot'. This ethos has cultivated a worldwide community of over a million members who share their work and passion through the company's online platform. The company designs, develops, and distributes a wide range of analogue products, including innovative cameras like the Diana F+, Lomo LC-A+, and the Sprocket Rocket, as well as various instant cameras and art lenses such as the Petzval. Beyond hardware, Lomography is also a significant producer of photographic film, offering 35mm, 120, and 110 formats in color negative, black and white, redscale, and its own experimental LomoChrome color-shifting emulsions. Through its products, online magazine, and global events, Lomography continues to champion the unpredictable beauty and tangible nature of analogue photography in an increasingly digital world.
