Lighthouse Reports is a pioneering non-profit media organization dedicated to collaborative, public interest investigative journalism. Our customers, which include the general public and civil society, often face a complex world where critical information regarding migration, climate change, conflict, and corruption is obscured or difficult to access. This is why we build dedicated newsrooms around specific, pressing topics. We understand that many individuals and communities are directly impacted by these issues but may lack the resources or a platform to bring these stories to light. Lighthouse Reports addresses this by channeling expert editors, advanced tools, and vital resources to working journalists, enabling them to undertake ambitious, deeply reported investigations.

Our approach is designed to overcome the challenges that both established media outlets and independent journalists encounter. For established media, our newsrooms offer a space to experiment with new investigative techniques and collaborative models without the immediate pressure of investing heavily in new, internal infrastructure. For independent makers and freelance journalists, who often find it daunting to tackle large-scale investigative projects alone, our topic-based, team-oriented approach provides crucial support, shared knowledge, and pooled resources. We believe that by fostering these collaborations, we can uncover stories that hold power to account and inform public discourse. The impact of our work is amplified by co-publishing our findings with a wide network of over 150 media partners globally, including prominent outlets like The Guardian, Der Spiegel, and The Washington Post, ensuring our investigations reach millions and contribute to meaningful change. We focus on innovating new approaches to accountability journalism, utilizing everything from open-source intelligence and data science to traditional reporting methods to ensure the stories that matter are told effectively and reach the audiences that need to hear them.
