Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is looking for a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Draftsman to work on the Army Global Unified Network (AGUN) program. The Global Enterprise Network Modernization – OCONUS (GENM-O) is a critical mission provider responsible for keeping the Army connected through global network modernization projects. The AGUN modernization effort will unify the next generation of Army transport to comply with the Joint Regional Security Stack (JRSS) divestiture mandate. A phased systematic approach is required to provide individual sites with standardized, updated technology systems to ensure the Army’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure is equipped to provide soldiers with cutting-edge technology to ensure applications, data, and enterprise services are accessible, trusted, and interoperable across the globe.

The SE&I Draftsman will support the program by developing and maintaining detailed technical drawings, architecture diagrams, and integration documentation in support of system-of-systems engineering efforts. This position plays a vital role in visualizing and documenting system designs, data flows, physical layouts, and interface connections that align with Army, MIL-STD, and government configuration management requirements.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team, supporting efforts across the system lifecycle, from concept development and design to test, fielding, and sustainment to ensure the Army’s Information Technology (IT) infrastructure is equipped to provide soldiers with cutting-edge technology across the globe.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed system drawings, network schematics, interface control diagrams (ICDs), and equipment integration layouts in support of SE&I activities.

  • Translate engineering concepts, requirements, and technical data into compliant documentation and visual design artifacts.

  • Support architecture development under Army NETCOM and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) frameworks, ensuring accurate representation of operational, system, and technical views.

  • Maintain version control of drawings, ensuring traceability within the Configuration Management (CM) process and alignment with program baselines.

  • Collaborate with systems engineers, network engineers, and program integrators to capture evolving system configurations and design updates.

  • Prepare drawing packages and integration documentation for System Design Reviews (SDRs), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).

  • Ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with GENM-O data deliverables (e.g., CDRLs, SOW requirements).

  • Support rack elevations, cabling diagrams, and hardware layouts for systems integration facilities and deployed environments.

  • Manage drawing repositories, apply CM identifiers, and ensure technical documentation meets MIL-STD-31000, MIL-HDBK-61A, or program-specific standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizen with a Secret security clearance.

  • DoD 8570 certifications.

  • IAT II, OS.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, minimum 3 years of experience supporting technical drafting within a DoD or government contracting environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Visio, or other CAD/diagramming tools.

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering and integration processes.

  • Excellent attention to detail, technical accuracy, and ability to interpret engineering data and system specifications.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in a classified or controlled environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting C4ISR, network modernization, or defense system integration programs.

  • Knowledge of SysML, Cameo Enterprise Architect, or other Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-973, EIA-649, or ANSI Y14.5 standards for engineering documentation.

  • Experience supporting Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and SE&I frameworks.

Come break things (in a good way). Then build them smarter.

Leidos' story begins in 1969 when Dr. J. Robert Beyster, a visionary scientist, founded Science Applications Incorporated (SAI) in La Jolla, San Diego, California. With a modest investment and a powerful idea, Dr. Beyster embarked on a journey to apply scientific expertise to solve complex problems. The company's early days were marked by a focus on research and engineering, tackling challenges for various government and commercial clients. One of its initial significant projects involved studying radiation-based cancer therapy for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, which laid the groundwork for Leidos' future health business. SAI soon expanded its reach, opening an office in Albuquerque to support the Air Force Weapons Laboratory's work on electromagnetic phenomena, a precursor to the company's Physical Science Group.

Throughout the 1980s, the company, then known as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), strategically shifted its focus towards national security and defense, solidifying its position as a key government services provider. This era set the stage for substantial growth and diversification. The 1990s saw SAIC continue to expand its offerings and international presence, securing its first major global contract with the Kuwaiti Defense Forces. A pivotal moment arrived in 2013 when SAIC underwent a significant transformation, splitting into two independent, publicly traded companies: a new company retaining the SAIC name and the original company, which was rebranded as Leidos (a name derived from 'kaleidoscope'). Leidos, as the legal successor to the original SAIC, inherited its pre-2013 stock price and corporate filing history and established its new headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This strategic move allowed Leidos to sharpen its focus on national security, health, and engineering solutions. Another major milestone occurred in August 2016 when Leidos merged with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business, a landmark transaction that created the defense industry's largest IT services provider and significantly expanded Leidos' capabilities and market share. Today, Leidos stands as a Fortune 500® global science and technology leader, employing approximately 47,000 people worldwide and generating billions in annual revenue, committed to making the world safer, healthier, and more efficient through innovation and technology.
