Senior Cloud Operations Engineer

Location Note: Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility. All other locations are remote-eligible.

We’relooking for aSenior Cloud Operations Engineer to design, automate, andoperateour next-generation cloud infrastructure (AWS & on-prem).You’llcreate unified, secure, and self-service platforms to empower developers and scale with the business. This is a hands-on technical role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own operations across multi-account architectures (via AWS Organizations, Identity Center with ABAC, and SCPs) ensuring security, compliance, and cost efficiency.
Build andmaintainself-service Terraform modules, pipelines, and automation for provisioning resources and bootstrapping applications, championing reproducible infrastructure through CI/CD workflows (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Automate relentlessly, define best practices, and work across engineering teams to improve reliability, cost efficiency, and developer experience.
- Collaborate to improve resilience, scaling, and performance.
- Implement andmonitorsecurity controls in partnership with InfoSec.
Mentor engineers across platform and application teams, advocating for best practices and driving standardization, automation, and operational excellence.
Serve as an escalation point for complex operational incidents and post-mortem analysis.
Participate in an on-call rotation and performadditionalduties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
8+ years of relevant work experience or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills,knowledgeand abilities, including 3+ years with AWS at scale.
- A self-starter able with the ability to work independently.
Expert-levelproficiencyin Terraform, including a deep knowledge of state file internals, provider architecture,executionDAGs, and theimplementationdetails ofTerraform’score engine.
A detailed understanding of AWS services and principles.
Strong scripting ability in Bash, Python, or Go.
ExperiencewithGitOps, CI/CD (GithubActions), Docker, Kubernetes, and hybrid or datacenter environments (LDAP, networking, access control, monitoring).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with Azure, GCP, Okta, and Cloud Native tools (Kubernetes, Helm, Prometheus)
Experience with database administration, performance improvement, query optimization, etc., preferably PostgreSQL.
Experience with compliance and risk management methodologies, frameworks, and principles (e.g.HIPAA, SOX, NIST, CSA, ITIL, etc.)

Pay Range: $160,000.00- $210,000.00annual salary
Schedule/Shift: M-F,8-5pm
All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers. Compensation may also include discretionary short- and long-term incentive packages.
