Role Overview:

We’re looking for a talented BACKEND ENGINEER I to join our small, energetic engineering team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has a strong foundation in software development principles, and is eager to grow their technical skills while contributing to innovative backend projects that drive business success and improve health outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Work in a small, tight-knit, empowered team to build and deploy cloud-based backend APIs and services for Ovia's mobile applications to deliver a solution that provides daily personalized health support for women and families
  • Participate in code reviews in a way that deepens team knowledge and improves our technology
  • Communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions clearly across the development lifecycle
  • Be a part of a culture that values collaboration, inclusion, experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement

What we require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • HS Diploma required
  • 2-4 years professional experience with team-based development
  • Experience with modern PHP (8+) required
  • Experience with a PHP framework (e.g. Symfony or Laravel), Doctrine DBAL/ORM, and SQL is preferred
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices such as testability and object-oriented design with the ability to incorporate these into technical solutions
  • Experience in healthcare industry is preferred

Pay Range: $75-90k annual salary

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees / as well as internal equity and market data.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
