About the Role
We’re looking for a Finance Director to serve as a strategic partner to our CFO and play a central role in shaping and managing our field compensation and variable incentive programs. This is a highly visible, high-impact position for a finance leader who loves diving into complex models, surfacing clear insights, and driving smart decisions across a multi-location organization.
Although this role does not have direct reports, it has broad reach and influence across Finance, Operations, HR, and Regional/Field Leadership.
What You’ll Do
Own Field Compensation Reporting
Lead end-to-end financial reporting for all field compensation programs, including monthly and quarterly actuals.
Perform detailed variance analysis vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods.
Partner with FP&A and business leaders to develop annual compensation budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
Provide actionable insights into trends, cost drivers, and program effectiveness.
Build & Improve Variable Compensation Models
Develop, maintain, and optimize complex financial models for OD and Teammate variable compensation plans.
Collaborate with Regional Leadership, Field Leadership, and HR to evaluate plan design changes and model financial implications.
Stress-test compensation structures under multiple scenarios to assess economic impact.
Ensure models are accurate, scalable, and aligned with organizational incentives.
Own Incentive Calculations & Analysis
Lead monthly/quarterly calculation, validation, and analysis for:
Optometrist Incentive and Bonus Structures
Teammate Incentive Programs
Corporate Incentives
Ensure accuracy, compliance with plan rules, and timely communication to Payroll and leadership.
Build dashboards and reporting to increase transparency for field leaders and executives.
Analyze Fixed vs. Variable Costs
Perform ongoing analysis of fixed vs. variable cost structures across the field organization.
Identify margin implications, optimization opportunities, and productivity trends.
Model the financial impact of staffing, incentives, and org design changes.
Deliver insights that guide investment decisions at the CFO and senior leadership level.
What You Bring
10–15+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial modeling, or compensation finance.
5+ years in Retail (100+ stores minimum), ideally Optical Retail or Healthcare.
Strong expertise in incentive compensation structures, especially in multi-location or field-driven organizations.
Advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling skills; BI, automation, or dashboard experience is a plus.
Clear communicator who can translate complex financial outcomes into digestible insights for non-financial partners.
High attention to detail, strong ownership mentality, and comfort managing complex workstreams independently.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
