Outback Spirit Tours offers a range of unique adventure tours, desert safaris and luxury short stays across our beautiful country. Our adventures capture the very essence of Australia, from the rugged red cliffs of the Kimberley to the unspoiled natural wonder of Tasmania, we bring iconic experiences to life. We operate 9 lodges in some of the most remote, inaccessible and beautiful locations. Our team of guides, drivers, camp and operations staff are passionate about the outdoors and take pride in bringing our guests on the adventure of a lifetime.

The Role

Based at Drysdale River Station this is a hands on role that is responsible for the successful running of the Station which includes a Bar, Bistro, Motel style accommodation, camp site, general store supplying goods, fuel and minor tire repairs. The station offers a quintessential outback Australian experience for the guests that stop along the Gibb River Road. It caters for both the FIT traveller passing through and tour groups.

You will be responsible for the day to day operation for the property including leading and managing staff, guest activities, infrastructure, rosters, logistics and administration.

The role provides an opportunity to live and work remotely for a season with meals and accommodation provided.

The role will also involve, but is not limited to:

  • Actively working towards ensuring that all guests have an unforgettable experience
  • Ensuring budgets are met and cost controlled across the property
  • Deliver the business’ guest-facing experience, from strategy through to delivery
  • Oversite of the food and beverage delivery, experience, and menu in conjunction with the Chef and the Kitchen team (this includes cost management, ordering, stock control and waste minimisation).
  • Drive a culture of safety, ensuring all incidents and hazards are reported and investigated in a timely manner
  • Complete all administrative tasks as required by the operations team
  • Take an active role in recruitment, induction, and staff training
  • Other management tasks required for the successful running of the property

Requirements

About You

You will have a passion to travel and a desire to experience working and living in remote locations with a love for sharing unique and iconic experiences. The ideal candidate will have:

  • The availability to work an entire season
  • Experience in running a Roadhouse style business - beneficial
  • Previous experience working remotely or with limited face to face support from your direct manager
  • Passion and enthusiasm for hospitality, travel, tourism and adventure
  • Pride in delivering exceptional standards of service, ensuring that guests leave us with memories that last a lifetime
  • High levels of interpersonal and communications skills
  • 3-5 years’ experience in general hospitality management
  • The ability to think on your feet while delivering within set time frames
  • A Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
  • Remote First Aid certification (must include CPR)
  • Food Safety certificate
  • Hold a HR Endorsed License
  • Forklift License
  • Knowledge of general maintenance
