We are a team of fun and skilled accounting and finance professionals within the Controller organization who own revenue accounting for Zillow Group’s Premier Agent business. We work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment and partner closely with teams throughout the Finance organization (including Billing & Payments, FP&A and Technical Accounting/Financial Reporting), as well as Business Operations, Analytics, IT/Engineering and Product owners across various product lines.As Zillow Group is in a time of significant growth and strategic advancement, there are a ton of chances to create a positive impact to the business!
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Revenue Accountant to join the Revenue Accounting team, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager! This role balances responsibilities across month-end close activities, project-based work and analysis.
In this role, you will:
Deep dive into underlying data to deliver insights
Prepare supporting documentation and analysis
Prepare and review higher-risk journal entries and related balance sheet reconciliations
Analyze financial results and provide relevant insights and explanations
Take an iterative approach to improve, automate, and scale accounting processes and controls
Work collaboratively on projects that improve the accuracy and effectiveness of accounting methodologies and estimates
Contribute to high-impact presentations shared with accounting leadership
Work closely with business partners to facilitate continuous operational improvements
Support internal and external audit requests
Perform ad-hoc/special projects and analysis as required, with guidance
Who you are
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, presentation and verbal/written communication skills
Intensely curious; thrives in complex situations where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
Ability to efficiently and effectively build out analysis for new processes and insights
Experience working with AI and data visualization tools, with an interest and ability to work with large amounts of data
Ability to form excellent relationships and effectively collaborate with many different teams across the organization
Solid understanding of ASC 606 and working knowledge of US GAAP
Revenue accounting and month-end close process experience
CPA is not required, but preferred
4+ years’ accounting work experience in public accounting, mid-to-large sized tech or high-growth company
