About the role

As we strive to make home a reality for more people, we seek an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Tour Availability and Submit team. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage back-end services that power key front-end experiences for customers initiating tours and connecting with agents. Your work will directly impact Zillow's core business, enhancing how we connect home shoppers and sellers with outstanding real estate agents and facilitating the journey toward finding their dream home. What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and development of robust, high-quality backend services, ensuring scalability, performance, and a seamless user experience.

  • Manage and coach a diverse team of software engineers, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages innovation and professional growth.

  • Collaborate with product managers and other multi-functional teams to align development efforts with business goals and user needs.

  • Drive the adoption of best practices in software development across the full stack, including continuous integration, continuous deployment, and automated testing.

  • Navigate and address complex technical challenges, continuously pushing the boundaries of our technology to enhance our platform and services.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $165,600.00 - $264,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC and may not be applicable to other locations.In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a solid foundation in software engineering principles.

  • At least five years of experience in software development, with a strong background in backend technologies (e.g., Python, Node.js).

  • A minimum of two years in a leadership role, with shown success in mentoring and developing engineering teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to architect scalable systems, navigating tough tradeoffs to aggressively deliver value to customers.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead multi-functional teams and drive projects to successful completion.
