The Zillow Group Legal & Compliance team is looking for a skilled employment law practitioner to join the company as employment counsel! The Counsel will join Zillow Group’s People Legal (employment) team and focus on ensuring employment law compliance across the U.S. and internationally for Zillow Group’s distributed workforce. This position will work cross-functionally with partners across all geographic regions.
In this role, you will:
- Provide primary support and advice and counsel to Human Resources Business Partners for Zillow’s international operations, including Canada, Mexico and Serbia;
- Develop, draft, and implement employee policies and required employment documents;
- Identify, research, track, and strategically counsel the Company on new and existing legal requirements applicable to Zillow Group’s nationwide and international distributed workforce;
- Monitor changes in statutory and regulatory requirements and agency guidance;
- Work with and lead cross-functional groups to identify and implement employment law compliance best practices;
- Assist the other People Legal attorneys with projects for various Zillow organizations on an as-needed basis;
- Provide legal support to our Immigration Team; and
- Identify opportunities for and deliver proactive education to empower clients with knowledge.
Who you are
- JD with state bar admission
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as employment counsel
- Experienced at drafting and revising policies
- Experienced at advising on international employment issues and supporting clients outside the United States
- Familiar with contingent worker issues
- Strong project management skills and attention to detail
- Active listener and excellent written and oral communicator
- Skilled at resolving complex issues and thinking creatively
- Ability to be self-directed and work in team settings across disciplines
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish preferred
- Excellent judgment and exceptional integrity
