United States onlyDirect Counsel is looking for a civil litigation attorney to join a firm with a great mission to provide tenants with healthy homes by passionately advocating for communities while striving to combat and prevent homelessness.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Be able to manage own caseload up through FSC
- Prepare pleadings, motions, oppositions to demurrers and MX to strike, discovery motions, mediations briefs, MSJ and MSA oppositions
- Be comfortable drafting law and motion off templates, and arguing motions verbally in court (typically remote)
- Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients
- Present cases in court and argue on behalf of clients
- Advise clients on legal matters and guide potential outcomes
- Collaborate with our team of attorneys to develop case strategies
- Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations that may impact client cases
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the State Bar Association (CA)
- Proven experience as a litigation attorney, preferably with a focus on civil litigation
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis
- Ability to draft legal documents accurately and effectively
- Strong negotiation skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
