This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer - CCIS in Virginia (USA).
This role offers a hands-on opportunity to design, deploy, and manage secure, resilient cloud and hybrid infrastructure supporting critical mission objectives. The Systems Engineer will work across multiple cloud platforms and on-premises systems, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and compliance with stringent cybersecurity standards. You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity, compliance, and program teams, while providing guidance on system architecture, performance tuning, and modernization efforts. This position requires a proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, mission-critical environments. Active security clearance is essential, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work.
Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and optimize cloud and hybrid infrastructure to meet mission requirements.
- Engineer scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant solutions across multi-cloud (AWS, Azure, OCI) and on-premises systems.
- Develop and maintain automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines for efficient provisioning and deployment.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues across compute, storage, networking, and security domains.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to enforce DoD security requirements and maintain security baselines.
- Maintain documentation, standard operating procedures, runbooks, and engineering diagrams.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response exercises to ensure operational readiness.
- Provide architectural guidance, capacity planning, and recommendations for modernization initiatives.
Requirements
- Active Secret / IT-I Critical Sensitive (Tier 5/SSBI) / High-Risk clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, cloud, or infrastructure roles with progressive responsibilities.
- DoD 8570 IAT II certification (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).
- At least one cloud certification: Google ACE or PCA; plus one from AWS, Azure, OCI, or Red Hat (RHCE/RHCSA).
- Strong knowledge of DoD security and compliance requirements and experience implementing security controls in cloud/hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in IaC, automation tooling, and DevSecOps practices (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipelines).
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in high-pressure, mission-critical environments.
