The Cloud Computing Application Architect will lead the design, deployment, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions that modernize enterprise applications and enhance data-driven decision-making. This role focuses on Public Health data modernization initiatives, working across cloud and hybrid environments to ensure interoperability, reliability, and compliance. You will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and mentor developers while implementing best practices for automation, CI/CD, and security. Accountabilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable cloud architectures supporting enterprise and Public Health applications.
- Architect and deploy applications and services in AWS and hybrid cloud environments.
- Collaborate with data modernization teams to align cloud strategies with technical standards and organizational priorities.
- Lead engineering teams through cloud migrations, environment builds, and modernization initiatives.
- Develop and enforce best practices for security, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure performance.
- Guide application development using .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL across cloud and on-premise systems.
- Build and optimize IaaS and PaaS environments, ensuring operational efficiency, reliability, and compliance.
- Research and recommend emerging cloud technologies to improve scalability, resilience, and cost-efficiency.
- Mentor technical staff in architecture design, automation, and cloud operations best practices.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud and hybrid environments.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with .NET (6/7/8), ASP.NET Core MVC/Web API, Entity Framework Core, LINQ, Dependency Injection, and SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL in cloud-managed databases.
- Proven experience architecting and deploying solutions in AWS (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with hybrid-cloud integration using VPN, Direct Connect, or Transit Gateway.
- Strong background in security and compliance, including encryption, IAM, vulnerability scanning, and patch management automation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and application troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of API-driven integrations, microservices, and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding technical teams, communicating architectural decisions, and mentoring engineers.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Solutions Architect Expert preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred but equivalent experience considered.
