As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable web applications that power core business operations. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to implement new features, improve performance, and ensure a seamless user experience. This role requires strong expertise in Ruby on Rails, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure, along with a hands-on approach to problem-solving and mentoring junior developers. Accountabilities
- Participate in technical discussions and design of new solutions, architectures, and features.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve usability, performance, and scalability.
- Implement new backend features, including building and maintaining JSON APIs.
- Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments (AWS), working with DevOps teams to ensure reliability and performance.
- Contribute to code reviews and mentor team members to maintain high-quality standards.
- Improve internal processes, development practices, and technology choices to optimize engineering efficiency.
- Debug and resolve complex production-level issues, ensuring smooth system operation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 7 years of experience building production-grade web applications.
- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and backend development.
- Proficiency in automation, JSON APIs, and distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, and cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of SQL databases, such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Proven ability to solve large-scale application and performance challenges.
- Experience mentoring and guiding developers of varying experience levels.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
