This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director of Software Engineering (US Eastern/Central Time Zone) in the United States.
In this role, you will lead and inspire a high-performing engineering organization responsible for developing and maintaining scalable SaaS products. You will oversee architecture modernization, implement best practices, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable, and performant software. Acting as both a strategic leader and hands-on technologist, you will mentor engineering teams, drive technical decision-making, and foster innovation through modern frameworks, development processes, and AI-enhanced tools. Accountabilities
- Lead the Platform Engineering Group, providing strategic and operational direction to ensure high performance and team growth.
- Define and evolve system architecture, promoting resilience, scalability, and maintainability across all products.
- Uphold and enhance development standards, processes, and best practices for high-quality, testable, and supportable software.
- Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, frameworks, and AI-powered tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, QA, and Customer Success teams to align engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Identify, prioritize, and address technical debt to maintain long-term system health and agility.
- Support engineering operations, including resourcing, budgets, and project delivery management.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on SaaS-based systems.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring senior software engineers.
- Strong expertise in Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle management.
- Hands-on technical experience with Node.js, Angular, relational databases (MySQL preferred), AWS, and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience managing complex SaaS product development in high-growth environments.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Track record of fostering innovation, mentoring teams, and driving technical excellence.
- Ability to balance hands-on problem solving with strategic leadership and decision-making.
