The Principal Salesforce Engineer will lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise Salesforce solutions that optimize business operations, enhance member engagement, and streamline customer experiences. This role focuses on Health Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Salesforce Industries (Vlocity), enabling scalable, compliant, and personalized solutions across the full lifecycle of insurance or membership management. The engineer will act as a technical leader, guiding complex projects, mentoring development teams, and ensuring adherence to best practices in architecture, coding, and DevSecOps processes. The role requires strategic thinking, hands-on technical expertise, and strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver measurable business impact and innovation in a regulated environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the management and optimization of Salesforce orgs, including Health Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Salesforce Industries (Vlocity).
- Design, develop, test, and deploy complex Salesforce applications and integrations, leveraging APIs (REST, SOAP, Bulk, Metadata) for system interoperability.
- Apply DevSecOps practices, ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient development and deployment processes.
- Define system scope and objectives, translating business needs into technical solutions and scalable workflows.
- Independently manage large projects, addressing complex technical challenges and ensuring timely delivery.
- Respond to system issues and performance events, implementing solutions to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to mid- and senior-level engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation, technical diagrams, and project artifacts for all development and configuration activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience (minimum 4 years professional experience).
- 7+ years of systems and programming experience, with 1+ year of Salesforce-specific development expertise.
- Deep expertise with Salesforce platforms including Health Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Salesforce Industries (Vlocity).
- Proficiency with Salesforce APIs for integrating external systems.
- Proven experience leading complex projects and delivering enterprise-grade solutions.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA, CMS regulations, and healthcare interoperability standards preferred.
- Excellent analytical, design, and coding skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business audiences.
- Leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to effectively engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, remote collaboration tools, and version control systems like Git/GitHub.
- Salesforce certifications such as Health Cloud Accredited Professional, Marketing Cloud Consultant, Application Architect, or Platform Developer II preferred.
