As an Applied AI Scientist, you will drive the development, deployment, and optimization of advanced AI solutions that enhance healthcare outcomes. This role blends deep technical expertise with collaboration across product, clinical, and engineering teams, ensuring AI systems are safe, reliable, and impactful. You will work on cutting-edge generative AI and machine learning technologies, from model development to clinical integration, and will influence both the architecture and operational excellence of AI systems. The position offers a fast-paced, mission-driven environment where your work directly supports clinicians, hospitals, and patients, advancing both innovation and responsible AI practices.
Accountabilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize AI/ML pipelines, data models, and AI engines for healthcare applications.
- Design and implement LLM evaluation modules, including observability, benchmark datasets, and metric standardization.
- Apply AI safety and adversarial detection strategies, incorporating human feedback for continuous model improvement.
- Build generative and predictive AI modules, agentic AI systems, and clinical knowledge graph applications.
- Collaborate with clinical experts and product teams to translate clinical guidelines into functional AI solutions.
- Monitor performance, resolve production issues, and ensure robust, scalable dataflows across AI and application stacks.
- Stay current with AI advancements, integrating research into practical healthcare applications and contributing to professional AI communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Informatics, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in AI/ML/NLP modeling, preferably in healthcare applications.
- Proven experience with cloud infrastructure and services for AI/ML deployment (AWS, Azure).
- Expertise in Python programming and AI/ML frameworks; familiarity with vibe coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Replit).
- Experience developing and managing large-scale AI systems with MLOps best practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS clusters.
- Strong background in generative AI, NLP, machine learning, and data science, with focus on ethical and responsible AI.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership and project management experience, capable of delivering results in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
