We are IANS Research, a trusted resource for Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and their teams who are navigating the complex and rapidly evolving landscape of information security. Our mission is to provide clear, experience-based insights that empower security practitioners to make informed decisions and effectively articulate risk within their organizations. We understand the immense pressure security professionals face, caught between emerging threats and the demanding expectations of executive leadership. That's why we've built a community and a suite of services designed to offer practical, actionable guidance when it's needed most. The foundation of our value lies in the IANS Faculty, a distinguished network of seasoned practitioners who have been in the trenches and have firsthand experience with the challenges our clients face. Through our 'Ask-an-Expert' inquiries, peer community, deployment-focused reports, and comprehensive tools and templates, we provide the critical support necessary for success.

Our story began with our founder, Phil Gardner, a former U.S. Navy strike fighter pilot. The principles he lived by in the cockpit—sweating the details, being a reliable wingman, and focusing on what truly matters—are the very principles upon which we've built our company. From our inception, our singular focus has been on information security. We recognized early on that high-level guidance is helpful, but deep-domain insights are invaluable. This realization led us to create a model centered around a faculty of experts who can provide in-the-trenches support. We facilitate a collaborative learning environment, inspired by the Harvard Business School model, where CISOs can share insights, compare notes, and learn from a community of their peers. We offer a range of services, including Decision Support, our flagship subscription service, as well as consulting engagements and events. Our ultimate goal is to equip security leaders with the unbiased, practical advice and peer interaction they need to keep their knowledge and skills sharp, enabling them to protect their organizations effectively.
