We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Top of Funnel team at Hover. In this role, you’ll help drive a Product-Led Growth motion across Hover’s core offerings. You’ll work cross-functionally to deepen the integration between our AI-powered design tools, estimation workflows, and insurance offerings, creating smoother and more impactful user journeys. You will contribute by
As a Senior Software Engineer at Hover, you’ll lead projects that connect and amplify the value of our product suite—creating a flywheel effect that drives increased engagement and long-term adoption. Your work will focus on turning curiosity into commitment, helping users understand and realize the value of Hover without needing a sales conversation.
For pros, you’ll help design experiences that take them from “What is Hover?” to “This clearly improves my business.” For homeowners, you’ll help them move from “What’s possible for my home?” to “I see exactly what my project will look like and cost.” You’ll contribute across the full stack of development tools mainly using technologies like React/Typescript, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, and cloud-native tools like Apollo studio.
Beyond shipping features, you’ll also play a key role in mentoring teammates and fostering a culture of shared learning, feedback, and continuous improvement. From junior developers to senior engineers, we’re committed to investing in each other’s growth and building a supportive, high-impact engineering environment.
Your background includes
- 5+ years development experience in front-end applications using Javascript/Typescript, React, and React Native.
- Backend development experience (we use Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Sidekiq)
- Experience with GraphQL and consuming and designing RESTful APIs
- A solid understanding of modern web-development technologies and workflows; from backend DB to user facing interfaces.
- Working in existing codebases to make incremental improvements in line with product priorities.
- Experience with working cross functionality across multiple stakeholder groups to drive the product forward
- A strong focus on users and how they interact with our products
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Bonus points
- Experience with WebGL and libraries such as three.js or babylon.js.
- Experience developing and launching A/B tests at scale
- Experience in a high growth technology startup a plus
- Experience working on both the frontend, backend, and anything it takes to solve problems and delight users both internally and externally

Hybrid roles at Hover
Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $160,000 - $182,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
