Once upon a time there were a couple of guys with an aspiration for better digital services – how does the journey go on? Read our story to find out how Houston was born, where we are today, and where we are heading tomorrow.

Yesterday

Houston was founded in 2003 by our Chairman of the Board Tomi Ruotimo. Back then, Houston was just a small bunch of developers working hard for one customer. But Houston, like many other great things, was created with passion. Tomi and his troops knew they were going towards something meaningful that would play a part in changing the digital world.

Time went by, new customers and intriguing projects came in, and the company started to grow. So began the transition from a bunch of people to exclusive teams of top-notch software professionals with a devotion for building outstanding digital services.

Today

Today, we’re a group of about 100 skilled and enthusiastic software professionals. We have a brand new office in Helsinki for our growing business, and our branch office in Turku was launched in 2017.

The next generation of Houstonians has started to take shape, and we want to foster Houston’s “people first” culture. We choose our employees carefully, one by one. Every Houstonian is different, and each individual is respected as they are.

Along with our employees, we genuinely care about our clients. We want to serve our clients by showing them the right steps towards tomorrow’s world. That’s why one of our biggest goals is to understand tomorrow’s world today.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow’s software is all about making everyday routines smart and easy without much effort by the user. We all want to use our precious time with family, friends, hobbies and other things we like, not meddling with complex services we actually don’t even want to use. Our mission is to shape the digital world, not the human being.

One of the core elements in making a user's life easier is collecting and synchronising data from various data sources for creating a deeper analytical understanding. We're getting ready for tomorrow by building the right technologies already today.

Tomorrow we will provide our expertise internationally. We are proud of doing our bit to maintain the high level of the software industry in Finland, mentoring tomorrow’s professionals, and creating success through passion and understanding.
