Summary of the position:

The Inventory Control Manager will optimize and oversee item ordering controls, minimum/maximum inventory levels, lead times, and stocking levels, while ensuring the seamless flow of materials and products. This role is key in ensuring that all necessary inventory items are consistently available, purchased cost-effectively, and communication with suppliers are maintained so that parts and equipment are delivered on time to meet customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of supply chain operations, and experience working with industrial products or equipment.

Duties and responsibilities:

Item Ordering Controls:

  • Develop and maintain item ordering controls, ensuring optimal order quantities and reorder points for all products.

  • Establish and monitor minimum and maximum inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts. This includes defining reorder points and quantities based on sales forecasts and historical demand.

  • Monitor lead times for procurement, working closely with purchasing and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and proactively addressing any potential delays.

  • Ensure that inventory levels are maintained in alignment with customer demand and operational requirements while minimizing excess inventory.

Lead Time & Stock Level Optimization:

  • Regularly analyze lead times from suppliers and optimize procurement schedules to ensure timely replenishment of stock.

  • Work with internal teams to synchronize order timing with customer demands, minimizing inventory carrying costs and avoiding stockouts.

  • Develop and implement strategies for appropriate stock levels, including safety stock levels, to buffer against unexpected fluctuations in demand or supply chain disruptions.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Generation of detailed equipment sales reports, tracking trends in product demand and identifying opportunities for improvement in procurement and inventory management.

  • Support forecasting activities by analyzing sales data, customer orders, and delivery trends to provide insights for future demand and inventory requirements.

  • Track expected shipments and monitor any missed shipments to identify root causes and proactively address potential delays in the supply chain.

  • Assist with data to help analyze sales performance against forecasted demand, reporting discrepancies and collaborating with sales, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure alignment.

  • Provide regular reports on procurement activities, inventory turnover, lead times, stock levels, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Use ERP systems and inventory management software to track orders, shipments, inventory status, and order history, ensuring that all data is accurate and up to date.

Cost Management:

  • Assist in implementing cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing, bulk purchasing, and supplier negotiations, considering total cost of ownership.

  • Manage 3rd party/aftermarket pricing and cost structures in ERP system. Work with vendors to create price updating expectations and tools to efficiently update internal ERP pricing.

Site Visits

  • Visit each HAC quarterly at the direction of the Director of Inventory and Vendor Management to work with local teams on inventory verification / organization.

  • 25% travel expected.

Education:

  • High School Degree Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).

Professional experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in supply chain management, procurement, or a related field, preferably within the industrial or manufacturing distribution industry.

  • Knowledge of industrial air compressors or similar equipment is a plus.

  • SAP software knowledge preferred.

Key behaviors:

  • Strong experience in inventory control, including managing minimum/maximum inventory levels, safety stock, and lead time calculations.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and MS Excel.

  • Experience in demand forecasting, and supply chain analytics.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
