Who we are:

HII-Mission Technologies is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join the team! This position can be a remote opportunity.

This position reports directly to the General Ledger Accounting Manager. This employee will be responsible for a wide variety of monthly intercompany, general accounting, and financial analysis for the businesses within the HII. You will coordinate on a regular basis with business management within the business units and division business process owners utilizing the Costpoint Accounting System as the source for data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creation of assigned Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations for entities in TSD Costpoint.
  • Account reconciliations which may include coordination and research of various issues with the bank such as cleared check differences, bank fee anomalies, targeted balance calculations, and enhancements to online services.
  • Responsible for reviewing Intercompany Accounting Transfer (IAT) documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepares journal entries utilizing correct usage of General Ledger Accounts, Projects and Organizations, and communication with management on discrepancies.
  • Coordination of Indirect Intercompany charges between Business Unit Billing departments and receiving HII entities.
  • Tracking incoming IAT's during the period and preparing accruals if needed for period end close.
  • Responsible for Intercompany tie-outs logs and ensuring confirmation and resolution of any period-end tie-out issues with other Intercompany entities to ensure elimination of intercompany balances within HII.
  • Review and analyze the financial information and will ensure proper accounting controls and procedures are adhered to.
  • Researches and analyzes fluctuations and variances between current financial results compared to prior year, prior month, and budgeted amounts.
  • Enters journal entries accurately into the Costpoint Accounting System.
  • Provide back-up month-end support for duties assigned to other accountants as needed.
  • Document policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Support various deliverables and special project requests.

What you need to have:

  • 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in Accounting; or 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field.
  • Good working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to accommodate all the deadlines during the period-end closing process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize diverse tasks.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in financial reporting and analysis.

  • Experience with Costpoint, Blackline, and Excel.
