This remote role is not tightly linked to a physical location and provides flexibility in where, when and how you accomplish your work. Remote employees are expected to have a dedicated, quiet and distraction-free work space and an internet connection that’s sufficient for completing their job remotely. Ideally, candidates will be located in Central or Easter time zones.

We are looking for a UX Strategy & Design Manager to join the Digital Growth Experience & Design group who will plan and facilitate generative and evaluative design research to define and evolve the experience strategy for all Harley-Davidson’s digital products. As a true advocate for the user, you are ready to inform the design of innovative and exciting end-to-end experiences that consumers love.

In your role you will:

  • Be an advocate for user needs and experiences throughout the design process
  • Lead a team of UX/UI designers within the Harley-Davidson X&D Group as they work on various projects
  • Determine the most effective research methodologies to utilize to meet information-gathering goals (e.g., contextual inquiry, interviews, surveys, usability tests, participatory design sessions)
  • Lead the design, development, and execution of generative and evaluative design research to understand customer environments, behaviors, pain points, needs, and aspirations
  • Analyze and synthesize data and findings from research to bring a clear set of actionable insights and recommendations
  • In addition to wireframes and prototypes using various design tools (Figma, Adobe CS), build deliverables such as concept hypotheses, user journeys, and storyboards that synthesize data into actionable insights
  • Design and lead workshops with diverse stakeholders, from internal teams to community partners, to collaboratively explore domains and challenges, synthesize data, generate concepts, and present work
  • Lead the design, prototyping and build (to ensure design intent is met) of digital products and experiences at all levels of fidelity
  • Ensure brand consistency and coherency across products and experiences
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams that include members from Harley-Davidson Management, Marketing, Sales, Solutions Integration, Financial Services, etc.
  • Work with the X&D Director to inform H-D’s roadmap across the digital ecosystem of products and experiences.

You should have:

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in in design, preferred.

Experience requirements:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • 8-10 years of hands-on design research and UX design experience
  • Experience managing/leading a design team
  • Expert knowledge of design research and synthesis methods and frameworks, user interface standards, design patterns, and user experience design principles and best practices
  • An outstanding portfolio of diverse range of projects and work demonstrating:
    • Human-centered design capabilities
    • Design thinking approach to problem solving
    • Application of research and synthesis methods and frameworks
    • Visual communication of research outputs and design recommendations
    • Future visioning and strategy development
  • An outstanding portfolio of prior work that demonstrates strong capabilities designing transactional user experiences across a range of different projects
  • Experience working in a company with a strong brand presence, and either developing a design system or working successfully within one
  • Expert knowledge with the following:
    • Design and Prototyping tools such as Figma, AdobeCS
    • Brainstorming and planning tools such as Miro
    • Languages such as HTML & CSS, Javascript
  • Additional consideration given for those with the following skills:
    • Animation
    • Illustration
    • Branding & Identity
    • Storytelling
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working in agile and lean environments

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
