Goodlord was founded in 2014 by Richard White, Philip Mundy, and Tom Mundy with a clear mission: to simplify and improve the often cumbersome rental process for everyone involved – letting agents, landlords, and tenants. What began as an ambition to make renting better for all, and a frustration with the inefficiencies in the tenancy process, quickly evolved. The founders recognized the need to introduce technology into a traditionally paperwork-heavy industry. Initially, the company focused on creating a software technology to manage all aspects of a residential tenancy transaction within a single system. The journey wasn't without its challenges. Like many startups, Goodlord experienced periods of rapid growth and restructuring. In early 2018, William Reeve, a seasoned tech entrepreneur with experience at companies like LOVEFiLM and Zoopla, took the helm as CEO to help scale the business. This marked a new phase for Goodlord, focusing on developing its market-leading technology and supporting its letting agent clients. Over the years, Goodlord has expanded its offerings significantly, moving beyond basic tenancy progression to incorporate a wide array of services. These include tenant referencing, e-signing, e-payments, rent collection, and various insurance products. The company also made strategic acquisitions, bringing Vouch (a digital referencing platform), Acasa (a housemate bills app), and Halo (a digital home move assistant) into the Goodlord Group to create a more comprehensive end-to-end solution. This evolution has solidified Goodlord's position as a leading RentTech platform in the UK, processing significant tenancy volumes and payments annually, and continuously innovating to meet the changing needs of the rental market.
