Why does this role exist?This role exists to reduce technical debt in a mature Salesforce org by consolidating complex or redundant automations, rules, and formula fields to improve stability and performance. The consultant will support UAT and bug/performance troubleshooting while producing comprehensive system documentation to enable knowledge sharing and prevent future debt. After the documentation phase, the consultant will transition into project-based delivery, partnering with a project manager to design and build scalable Salesforce solutions.
The Impact you’ll make
- Audit, consolidate, and refactor redundant automations (Flows, Process Builder, Workflow Rules), validation rules, and formula fields to simplify the org and improve performance
- Standardize naming conventions, guardrails, and best practices to prevent future debt
- Identify performance bottlenecks and implement configuration changes to reduce save times and errors
- Create or refine UAT plans and test scripts; guide business users through UAT
- Triage, reproduce, and resolve platform bugs and performance issues
- Track defects to closure and document root causes and fixes
Documentation and knowledge sharing
- Produce comprehensive, up-to-date documentation for system configuration (data model, automations, permissions, integrations at a high level)
- Organize docs for easy consumption (e.g., Confluence) with diagrams, runbooks, and change logs
- Establish documentation standards to lower the risk of future technical debt
Progress reporting and metrics
- Define and report on key metrics that demonstrate debt reduction (e.g., automation count reduction, improved record save times/page load, decreased error rates)
- Provide regular, stakeholder-friendly updates on progress, risks, and next steps
Project delivery (post-documentation)
- Partner with a project manager to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Build scalable, declarative Salesforce solutions aligned with best practices
- Proactively claim tasks from a dedicated queue and deliver on time
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Salesforce Administrator/Consultant focused on declarative configuration and org optimization
- Proven experience consolidating and migrating legacy automations (Workflow Rules/Process Builder) into scalable Flows; strong command of validation rules and formula fields
- Demonstrated experience planning and supporting UAT and troubleshooting platform bugs/performance issues
- Strong documentation skills (configuration guides, diagrams, runbooks) and ability to establish documentation standards
- Experience partnering with a project manager to define technical requirements and deliver scalable Salesforce solutions
- WFH Set-Up:
- Computer with at least 8GB RAM, an Intel i5 core processor/AMD Ryzen 5 Processor and up.
- Internet speed of at least 40MBPS
- Headset with an extended mic that has noise cancellation and a webcam
- Back-up computer and internet connection
- Quiet, dedicated workspace at home
- Technical: Salesforce Flows (record-triggered, scheduled), validation rules, formula fields, profiles/permission sets, data model design, performance tuning, troubleshooting/debugging, change management basics; Jira/Confluence familiarity (highly preferred)
