Sr. Director, Analyst – Consumer Products and Digital Commerce Supply Chain

*This is an individual contributor role, based remotely in North America.

A Senior Director, Analyst is a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via virtual meetings, in-person meetings, sales support and conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

As a supply chain thought leader you will build insights and advise senior supply chain and technology leaders on trends across the consumer products industry with a specialization in digital commerce. You will build on deep domain expertise across the consumer products industry, inclusive of digital commerce, to advise supply chain and technology leaders on best practices among industry peers.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise Consumer Products clients on supply chain strategy and execution at both the strategic and tactical levels, with an emphasis on customer experience/collaboration strategies.
  • Lead Gartner supply chain’s coverage of digital commerce technology including order management.
  • Maintain awareness of leading supply chain practices and technologies across consumer products and digital commerce, seeking trends and publishing actionable research.
  • Develop innovative, thought provoking, fact-based and highly leverageable research that offers compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and accelerates their ability to act.
  • Provide clients and prospects in senior supply chain roles with actionable advice via virtual or face-to-face interactions.
  • Create and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings.
  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community.
  • Support research commercialization, proof of concept discussions with prospects and client engagement strategies with commercial partners.
  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review.
  • Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members.
  • Drive client demand for your advice and insight.

What you will need:

  • Have 12+ years of experience in supply chain in the Consumer Products sector preferably with a fast-moving consumer goods manufacturer(s) doing business with retailers serving the Food, Drug, Mass, Club, Dollar, DIY Home Center channels.
  • Have at least 5 years in senior digital commerce supply chain roles.
  • Knowledge of (1) digital commerce order management processes and technology and/or (2) supply chain customer experience / collaboration will be highly regarded.
  • Have end-to-end supply chain knowledge in consumer products including best practices and potential challenges as they relate to Supply Chain. This includes familiarity with the Consumer Products value chain, from suppliers to manufacturers, distributors, retailers and consumers.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Preferably have had the experience of ‘main stage’ speaking.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns, and drawing conclusions. Have strong project planning and management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
  • Limited (<20 days/year) domestic and international travel as needed.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 150,000 USD - 190,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
