About the role
Our Energy and Resources Division works with major exploration and distribution clients to deliver specialist mining, oil and gas projects across the country. These include upstream flowlines, leases, network gathering and distribution systems, major gas transmission pipelines, oil and gas above ground processing facilities, as well as integrity, maintenance and construction related work programs. The role is offered as a permanent full-time position.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer to be provide full mechanical design input from FEED to detail design. Working closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams, the designer integrates mechanical systems with structural, electrical, and civil elements, resolves design clashes, and supports cost estimation, procurement, and site installation. The role will also liaise with clients to present concepts, incorporate feedback, and deliver compliant, efficient, and practical mechanical solutions.
Duties:
- Creating accurate 3D models, layout and fabrication drawings
- Create Bills of Materials
- Check drawings to QA procedures
- Ensure drafting designs are progressed in a timely manner
- Conduct site visits as required
- Mentor and train drafters
- Participate in design reviews
- Ensuring all design conform to relevant industry codes and client standards
Requirements:
- Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering, Design, or a related discipline
- High-level technical proficiency in mechanical design, including 2D/3D modelling, preparation of fabrication and isometric drawings
- Working experience with MicroStation V8i and proficient use of piping software packages
- Excellent understanding of appropriate mechanical and inter-disciplinary standards, particularly AS1100, AS2885, AS1210, AS4041, and ASME
- Previous experience in water and wastewater projects desirable
