Friendship Place

Friendship Place is a leading organization in Washington, DC, dedicated to ending homelessness through innovative and customized services. Established in 1991, it has grown from a small group of concerned citizens into a comprehensive provider that addresses the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness in the DC region. Our person-centered approach empowers participants to rebuild their lives by providing them with vital resources such as housing assistance, employment support, and mental health services. Over the years, we have successfully served thousands of individuals, providing them not just shelter, but a path towards stable living conditions and community reintegration.

In FY 2023, Friendship Place impacted the lives of 4,993 people, including 1,507 children, through our range of programs which include emergency shelters, job placement services, and specialized support for groups such as veterans and LGBTQ individuals. We believe that homelessness is not merely a lack of housing, but a complex issue that requires multifaceted solutions. Our innovative initiatives are monitored for effectiveness and aim to provide long-lasting results, helping individuals transition from homelessness to stable housing and employment. As we move forward, we remain committed to advocacy and awareness efforts that challenge the stigma surrounding homelessness and promote inclusive community practices.
