About the role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Fortis, you will own backend systems, tools, and game features. You will exercise your creativity through every step of the development process, from initial design all the way to live game support. Work closely with game designers, artists, engineers, and other technical groups to implement large-scale game features and highly distributed services.

• Design and build efficient and reusable systems, including tools for our team
• Learn new algorithms, languages, techniques, processes, or methodologies
• Identify and address performance bottlenecks and security issues in distributed systems
• Move fast and create long-lasting, highly successful products

What you’ll need to be successful

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Proven server software development experience
• Fluent in JavaScript (Node.js) and TypeScript, NestJS is a plus
• Extensive familiarity with distributed and in-memory database systems like Redis
• Good knowledge of Docker, some experience with Kubernetes, bonus if you have experience working with hybrid infrastructures like Cloud+On-prem or Multicloud
• Some experience with IaC solutions like Terraform or CloudFormation is preferred
• Must be proactive, self-directed, and organized
