About the Role

The Principal Controls Engineer will architect and program the brain of our data centres; BMS, EPMS and DCIM stacks that maintain perfect environmental conditions, maximise uptime and surface real-time insights for tens of thousands of GPUs.

Focus

  • Manage all aspects of controls and monitoring system including power and cooling system controls and monitoring.

  • Create strategy for data center control system design and deployment.

  • Develop control and monitoring system design standards for datacenters with PLC / SCADA / DDC systems.

  • Lead innovation for control systems for better operability and maintainability of data centers.

  • Develop and maintain the basis of design, master specification and master drawings.

  • Facilitate developing project specific drawings and documentation based on the master design with local adaptation working with external design consultants.

  • Design PLC/SCADA architectures integrating HVAC, electrical and security subsystems.

  • Develop points lists, control sequences and HMI dashboards for liquid-cooling loops and rack-level telemetry.

  • Implement secure OPC UA/MQTT data buses and high-frequency time-series databases.

  • Automate alarm workflows, predictive-maintenance analytics and KPI visualisations.

  • Collaborate with Software and SRE teams to expose APIs for cluster schedulers and billing.

  • Produce control bill-of-materials, sequence-of-operations and commissioning scripts.

  • Interface with Mechanical, Electrical and Construction teams through 30/60/90% design reviews.

  • Willing and able to travel domestic and international to support projects. 20% travel is expected for this role.

About You

  • B.S/B.E/B.A degree in electrical / mechanical engineering discipline.

  • 10 + years in BMS/EPMS design for high availability data centers or semiconductor fabs.

  • Deep knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, IEC 61850 and Niagara/Tridium.

  • Proficient in Rockwell, Siemens or Schneider PLC ecosystems and Python/Golang for glue logic.

  • Experience hardening OT networks to ISO 27001 / NIST CSF.
